History of Diamond Dry Cleaners Apparelmaster

Diamond Dry Cleaners was established after Dave Davidson moved from Wanganui to Napier where he started Modern Way Drycleaners in 1938 on the corner of Hastings Street and Albion Street Napier.

His wife Jean looked after the business while Dave was at war for 2 years.

After the war finished in 1943 he renamed Modern Way Drycleaners to Pacific Drycleaners.

In 1948 he sold Pacific Drycleaners and established Diamond Dry Cleaners on 20th December. After Dave's death his two sons' Bruce and Ian continued to build on the basic fundamentals that Dave and Jean had established.

In 1987 Diamond Dry Cleaners purchased the Apparelmaster Franchise for Hawke's Bay to facilitate the expansion into the Garment Rental Program and Laundry Services.

In August 2007 we started a Linen Processing Operation in Napier which services Motels and Hotels to complement our growing specialised Homestay and Premium Linen service.
